We are all on the giant conveyor
Standing still but steadily being propelled
To the hellfire of our comfortable inaction
It takes only one step, from rubber to grass
To be liberated from the fear and illusion of change
We are all on the giant conveyor
Standing still but steadily being propelled
To the hellfire of our comfortable inaction
It takes only one step, from rubber to grass
To be liberated from the fear and illusion of change
Is there a star that shines brightest for you
When you peer up into the vast darkness
Trying to remember where you are going
Or to forget what you have left behind
And will you follow your star or gaze from afar
It's very safe and cozy in here
Maybe I can hang a few pictures
Of jungles, mountains and rapids
Grand horizons and tropical landscapes
As a reminder or as an incentive I'm not sure
When we do that dance
Where the woman prances and the man persues
You and I know that we are stretching the truth
From a pursuit that only took a few seconds
Into a dance that has yet to end
You just keep beatin at it honey
Hands bleeding all over the place
And the wall between us still stands
I'm not saying you shouldn't keep fighting
But those fists aint doin' nothing to this wall until they heal up
Sometimes the things people say in anger
Are the things they don't really mean
And sometimes those things
Are what they mean the most
Set fire to cordiality and look for either smoke or mirrors
You don't like me
When you see me apart from you
All you tell yourself is I am apart from you
And that scares you ever so much
To think that I wasn't put on this earth for you
We were all swirling
In his mighty cauldron
Bumping and spinning to his delight
When one of us heard his laughter
And to his shock and perhaps dismay we laughed back
I've eaten out of happiness
And many times out of sadness
Happiness and sadness are such lazy feelings
You can only bask or dwell in them
How nourished I would be to dine with determination
